This museum introduces and exhibits items related to the history and folklore of Ehime Prefecture. The expansive structure houses four historic and folklore exhibit rooms, and workshop classrooms. In addition to the displayed objects, on display are many scale-model replicas of iconic structures such as pit dugout dwellings, a town house during the Sengoku Age of Civil Wars, and a pre-war village main street, each depicting respective periods, affording one a sense of being transported back in time.

2年前に『古地図で楽しむ伊予』（風媒社、2018年）を購入したのですが、実物を見たくて友人3人で観に行きました。小川五兵衛という優れた測量家がいたらしく、宇和島中心部だけでなく、西予市や鬼北町などの測量図もあり面白く拝見しました。

特別展“古地図で楽しむ伊予”を機に、久しぶりに来てみました。平日のせいか、他に来館者が見当たらず、広いロビーも暗い印象で、開館当時(1994年)を知るものとしては寂しい限りです。開館当時は、大規模な企画展や講演会も催され、駐車場も一杯になることが多かったかと思います。多目的ホール、ミーティングルーム、図書館も有、多様な利用もできそうです。古地図の展示では海に囲まれた宇和島城がうかがえる宇和島城...
