Tsubomi和甘味 つぼみ

Cafe

A famous Japanese-style café operated by the long-standing Japanese-style restaurant, Suginoi and located close to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa in Kanazawa, Ishikawa. The café’s garden, enclosed by a towering stone wall built in the Edo period, offers beautiful seasonal beauty, from cherry blossoms and fresh verdure in spring to autumn foliage in fall. Customers can enjoy charming sweets made with select ingredients and mountain spring water while listening to the soothing burble of the nearby Tatsumi Irrigation Channel. Popular menu items include the hon-warabimochi jelly and the kuzukiri noodles, made from rare 100% pure and domestic warabi bracken and kudzu powder. The café’s famously superb Tsubomi shaved ice, only offered in summer, is luxuriously topped with a homemade syrup created from various fresh fruits.

Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
