Goryo Jinja Shrine

This shrine, said to have been built at the behest of Emperor Kanmu during the Enryaku period (circa 800 AD) is famous for its flowers of each season. In the springtime, there are marvelous sakura and peonies blooming. The Shusse Inari Shrine within the grounds is said to bind relationships together and when entreated, will bring about romance. The heart shaped votive tablets, love fortunes, and amulets are very cute.

東大寺、春日大社などならには大きな神社仏閣などがありますが、こちらのならまちのエリアにはこじんまりした町の風景に溶け込むような神社です。春日大社などのエリアとは違って、人が全然いなくて、静かな感じでした。

ならまちエリアの中心部にあります。ならまちにぎわいの家から少し南に行った場所です。平安時代初期に創建がさかのぼるという歴史を持った神社です。境内は広くはありませんが、縁結びの神として提灯が目印となっている出世稲荷社があって結構人気がある感じがありました。
