Magatama Pond
A garden the belongs to Outer Ise Shrine. The name comes from the magatama (comma-shaped jewels) shape of the pond. Flowers that bloom throughout all four seasons area planted but the Japanese iris that blooms in June are particularly popular. Alongside the pond is a stage that has plays, music, dancing, and other folk entertainment throughout the year, (several times a year). In 2012 the Sengu Museum was opened. Here you can find explanations about the process of dismantling Ise Shrine and rebuilding it which happens every 20 years and is Ise Shrine’s largest event.
