Shintoyone Dam (Lake Midori)
Lake Midori, where one can get their fill of amazing nature throughout each of the four seasons, has some history behind it in that with the construction of the Shintoyone Dam in 1970 the two communities of Sogawa and Taka in the Komadate district became submerged at the bottom of the lake, and 75 households had no choice but to leave their villages and relocate elsewhere. There is the Sogawa Oike Daimyojin Shrine that is dedicated to a dragon god, and there are several legends that are passed down about it.
