Ochanoma Rest Area
This restaurant is right next to Jorakuji Temple, which is in the Beppu Hot Springs, the oldest hot spring in Shinshu. The whole family collects the mugwort used to create the ever-popular “three-color mugwort dango.” Other specialties include the “pot-roasted walnut udon noodles” and “oyaki” buns that showcase the flavor of the local cuisine. There are exclusive seasonal items too, such as “shaved ice” and “amazake.”
