Mint Museum
"A 15-minute walk from Minami-morimachi Subway Station, the museum is marked by Japan's first gas lamp. Originally built in 1911 as a thermal power station, the building was refurbished into the Mint Museum and now is the only brick western-style building remaining from the Meiji period (1868-1912) on the premises. On the second floor, there are exhibits on the history of the Mint and prize medals awarded to athletes at the Tokyo and Nagano Olympics, etc., as well as an ""Experience Corner"", where visitors can touch gold and silver bullion bars. On the third floor, various coins from around the world are illuminated by LED and displayed. A reading room for further information is also open to the public to learn more about currency."
