Usamitei Matsubaya
A venerable udon noodle shop located in Osaka City’s Chuo Ward said to be the originator of kitsune udon noodles. When the restaurant was first founded in 1893, it served the inari fried tofu separate from the udon noodles, but after it became common for customers to add the inari to their noodles, the restaurant began serving the noodles with the inari already on top. The dashi stock, noodles, and spongy, juicy fried tofu made according to the same recipe as when the shop first opened are the taste of old Osaka.

- Decent udon
- Udon soup the same for any toppings. One of the bowls I got a tiny piece of fish cake. No surprises. Size of the bowls are pretty small, not filling at all.
