The Tenryuji Temple, founded in 1339, is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple located in Arashiyama and a registered World Heritage site. The Seizan Sodo offers a boiled tofu set meal in the tatami study of the Myochiin, a sub-temple of the Tenryuji. The tofu is from Morika, a venerable Saga tofu shop.

Stumbled on to this place and so thankful we did. Sit on the floor kind of restaurant with traditional sliding doors and a garden surrounding the building. Really relaxing and mellow.

お料理は、湯豆腐定食。外の騒がしさが聞こえず静かです。きれいなお庭を見て美味しい食事を頂きました。信楽焼の大きな狸の置物が出迎えてくれます。

嵐山に来てどこで食事しようか考えてましたが、天龍寺の塔頭寺院に湯豆腐屋さんを発見。お寺で綺麗なお庭を見ながら食事をさせていただき感動しました。庭には綺麗な枝垂れ桜が咲いていました。心が洗われたようです。料理もどれも絶品でした。お一人様3,240円決して安くはないですが、食べてみる価値ありです。また京都に来たら訪れたい場所です。
