The Sea Road Munakata Museum has permanent exhibits where one can learn about the history of Munakata as well as limited term special exhibits. There is also a 3D theater where visitors can enjoy the mysterious world of Okinoshima though sounds and images. There is an experience corner where one can come in contact with ancient civilizations through exhibits with themes such as making magatama accessories or learning how humans first made fire, enjoyable by both children and adults.

宗像大社の参道をまっすぐ出ると正面にある郷土史の資料館です。宗像大社を中心とした地元の歴史を展示や大きなスクリーンの映像で学べます。

宗像大社前にあるミュージアム。以前行った時は閉館だったので入場したら。お客さんが少なかったのかボランティアガイドさんがつきっきりで説明してくれた。大型映像、3D映像など時間と関係無く貸切で鑑賞。世界遺産の事などよく分かる見応えのあるミュージアムです。

宗像大社に行った帰りに行きました。周りに木造の建物が多い中、とってつけたようにきれいな建物が建っており、目を引きました。時間があれば立ち寄る程度で、わざわざ、このために行くほどではないかと思います。場所的には、宗像大社の大きな駐車場の目の前にあり、宗像大社の駐車場から歩いて行けます。
