Mausoleum of Sanada Nobuyuki

Historical Monument
This mausoleum for Sanada Nobuyuki, ancestor to the lords of Matsushiro Domain, was built in 1660. The mausoleum is located on the grounds of the Chokokuji Temple, a Soto Buddhist temple. The magnificent irimoya-zukuri-style mausoleum has a hipped, gabled roof which is shingled, and 3 bays between its columns and four bays between its beams. Today, the mausoleum has been designated a National Important Cultural Property and enshrines ihai Buddhist mortuary tablets for Nobuyuki and his wife Komatsu.
