Hanibe Gankutsuin
The northeast side of Komatsu City has produced large quantities of stone and the area is dotted with several old stone quarries. This Buddhist cave temple was opened in 1951 and makes use of one such former stone mine. Here, visitors can view a huge number of Buddhist statues. The cavern is 150 meters long. The temple is not dedicated to any specific Buddhist sect and all are welcome to visit.

- The Most Intriguing Part of my Trip
- Went to Ishikawa to visit a friend and she brought me to these hell caves. I would have to say that this was the most unexpected attraction I have come across in japan. The entire journey is said...

- Especially worth it for the Mizuko room
- The main interest here is the Mizuko room, with all the small Jizo, the many toys and clothes owned by the children. Quite eerie but worth it. The caves are quite hilarious- also worth it.
-
- Not much to see
- The head and shoulders of a Buddha and not much else. Seemed to be overpriced and the small shop at the car park also expensive. not worth the detour from main road.
