Ochiai-juku Honjin

Historical Monument
This is the headquarters of Ochiai-juku, the 44th post station from Tokyo at the easternmost point of Minoji. It was hit by a large fire twice in 1804 and then in 1815, but three years later it was reconstructed and now conveys the image of the time in the present. This is the only existing headquarters in the 17 post stations in Gifu Prefecture, which corresponds to a quarter of the Nakasendo Highway. It is reported that the main entrance, which can be seen from the left of the road, was donated by the Kaga Maeda family. Every Sunday, volunteer tours are also provided free of charge, and you can visit locations such as the holes the feudal lord used to escape from danger.
