Millet Park
This park is located about a twenty-minute drive from the Kunohe Interchange on the Hachinohe Expressway. It is an outdoor spot where visitors can fully experience the natural wonders of the Mt. Oritsume-dakeinside the Oritsume Basenkyo Prefectural Natural Park. At the restaurant in the park, visitors can try handmade soba noodles made entirely from locally grown buckwheat or Tartary buckwheat, as well as making their own soba noodles. A full range of campsites and cottages are available and are recommended as bases for climbing Mt. Oritsume or hiking. Nearby is Dake no Wakkutsu, one of Iwate Prefecture's twenty most famous natural springs, which supposedly grants a long life to those who drink its waters. The park is open from mid-April to the end of October.
