Suwa Bairin Plum Park

Place famous for plum blossoms
"A plum grove located on Prefectural Route 37 in Suwa-cho, Hitachi City. Created by Tokugawa Nariaki – the 9th feudal lord of the Mito Domain – it has been a famous place for plum blossoms since the Edo period. It has about 300 plum trees, including one called the ""Rekkobai plum tree,"" said to have been planted by Nariaki himself. The best time to see them is when in bloom from late February to mid-March."
