Saiho-ji Temple

Place famous for cherry blossoms
This temple is in Shimoidai-machi, Matsuyama city. This ancient temple built in the Asuka Period is the fourth temple on the Iyo Juni Yakushi Reijo pilgrimage. The ground's usuzumizakura cherry tree is said have been bequeathed by the emperor after a purification ritual here supposedly healed the empress of an illness, and it is now designated a Natural Monument by the city as the Saihoji Keidai Usuzumizakura.
