Yatsuhashi Kakitsubata Garden
Eight minutes on foot from Meitetsu Mikawa-Yatsuhashi Station, this famous spot for Japanese irises is in a strolling garden on the precincts of Muryojuji Temple in Chiryu City. The floral scenery has been immortalized in a famous poem from the Heian period by Ariwara no Narihira. A stone monument featuring the poem and a statue of the poet are on the grounds. The Shiseki Yatsuhashi Kakitsubata Festival is held annually in late April and mid-May when the flowers are in full bloom.
