Seiwa Kenmin no Mori
Approximately 24 kilometers from the Kimitsu interchange on the Tateyama expressway, this forest preserve was opened in 1974 as one of the commemorative events celebrating 100 years since the Meiji period. A mixed forest area surrounds the park with such broad-leafed trees as quercus serrata and chinkapin, and such conifers as firs and Japanese hemlocks. One can view the azaleas and sakura in the spring, the naturally occurring fireflies in the summer, and the autumn foliage said to be the latest that turns in Chiba prefecture. Within this natural treasure dwell wild Japanese monkeys. Recreational facilities are available for camping, RV (recreational vehicle) sites, barbecue sites, and other sports grounds.
