Kawaguchi Yana (Ibi River)
A tourism fish trap located at the foot of the Kawaguchi Bridge spanning the Ibi River 40 minutes from the Ogaki interchange on the Meishin Expressway. The traditional fish trapping techniques used on the Ibi River have been designated a National Intangible Folk-Cultural Property. All of the seats in the adjoining restaurant building have a view of the beautiful Ibi River, and customers can check out the fish trap or play in the river while they wait for their meal. The fresh caught sweetfish can be ordered charcoal grilled; the restaurant is also famous for its sweetfish zosui rice gruel. The sweetfish course meal, which comes with two sweetfish cooked shioyaki style (grilled with salt) and two fish cooked gyoden style (skewered and covered with miso) plus other dishes; and the Saturday, Sunday, and holiday-only sweetfish oshi sushi are also recommended. The facility is only open from the summer to the fall.
