Mt. Sasao - Site of Ishida Mitsunari’s Encampment

Other Historic Site/Building
"A 25-minute walk north from JR Sekigahara Station. A monument on top of Mt. Sasao marks the Site of Ishida Mitsunari's Encampment, the place where Ishida Mitsunari, supreme commander of the Western Army, made his camp prior to the famous Battle of Sekigahara. There are recreations of the bamboo enclosure and anti-cavalry palisade built to protect against enemy attacks during the battle, and, looking down on this decisive battlefield, visitors will feel like they've traveled back in time. The Sasaoyama Exchange Center is located nearby and has a rest area as well as a shop. The center offers a particularly popular ""armor wearing experience"" in which you can put on handmade armor modeled after the kinds used in the Battle of Sekigahara, walk around, and take commemorative photos."
