Matsudaira-go

Other Historic Site/Building
This village was the place where the Matsudaira clan originated, a mighty shogun clan which flourished during the Edo period. The roughly two hectare area stretching from Matsudaira Toshogu Shrine to the Kogetsuin in Matsudaira-cho, Toyota City is maintained as Matsudaira-go Park, a nature and history park. Much of the old village's historic scenery and structures, dating back to the distant Muromachi period, still stand intact along the park's walking paths, and visitors can take in the ancient elegance and atmosphere. Some of the park's many highlights include a local farmers market and a history museum. Visitors can eat udon and soba noodles, and sweets like tenka mochi rice cakes in the samurai estate-styled Tenka Jaya rest area.
