Oiwake Honjin Murai Family Residence
This historic building is located along National Route 308 in Owada-cho, Nara City. It served as a honjin (accommodations for feudal lords, government officials, and other important figures) at the fork along the highway from Nara to Osaka that leads to Yamatokoriyama. An example of shukuba (post town) architecture, it has a Yamatomune style roof that combines both thatching and pantile. It is designated as a municipal Cultural Property. As it is a private home, only the exterior can be viewed by the public.
