Hinohara Tokyo Citizens’ Forest (東京都檜原都民の森)
4.0
Hinohara Tokyo Citizens’ Forest is located on the lower slopes of Mt. Mito, the tallest of the “Three Mountains of Okutama.” The Forest is a water source protection forest, and is ranked as one of Japan’s “Top 100 Finest Water Source Protection Forests.” There are several hiking trails within the Forest, one of which, “Otaki no Michi” (Waterfall Route Course) was designated as the first “Forest Therapy Trail” in Tokyo; with a packed woodchip surface, the trail is very easy to walk on. The restaurant located within the Forest grounds is the highest restaurant in Tokyo.

Tokyo Areas

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
