Meikyokan, Matsuyama Higashi High School Museum

Built in 1828 as the auditorium of the clan school for soldiers under the Matsuyama Lord, Matsudaira Sadamichi, to train in both literary and military arts. Attendees included famous Japanese haiku poet Masaoka Shiki as well as brothers Akiyama Yoshifuru and Saneyuki who both served during the Russo-Japanese War. The large 60-tatami mat hall is decorated with their portraits and letters. As it is now on the premises of the former Matsuyama Middle School (currently the Matsuyama Higashi High School) admission is allowed with permission of school management and with consideration for classes (consent from the school must be acquired at least two weeks prior to planned day of visit).

四国松山の旧制第一中学校であった松山中学（現松山東高校）の建物です。城山近くにあったものを戦前に移築したものですが、戦火を乗り越えて現存する貴重な建物です。
城山の麓の一番町に開設された藩校が移築されています
