Mitsu no Watashi
"A municipal ferry that connects the 80-meter distance between the Saishoji-mae of Mitsu Port and the Minatoyama district in the Matsuyama port area. Officially named ""City Route Takahama No.2"", this ferry is a city 'road' that runs on the sea. Its origins date back to around the time of the Onin War (around 1467-1477), in the Muromachi period, (1336-1573) when it was used for transporting goods and procuring food. In the Edo period (1603-1868), the haiku poet Kobayashi Issa is said to have boarded this boat on his way to a haiku poet gathering, and it was also featured in the movie and TV drama, ""Gambatte Ikimasshoi"". The ferry, which is open year-round and free of charge, is still used by approximately 40,000 people annually, making it an essential means of transportation for local residents."
