Volcano Science Museum, Toyako Visitor Center
Toyako Visitor Center and Volcano Science Museum is an exhibition facility that introduces the natural environment around Lake Toya and the natural history of Mt. Usu. You can learn about the volcanic activity through commentary panels with a focus on huge aerial photographs and actual specimens, as well as the ecology of the animals and plants and the mechanism of the lake. You can also experience walking around Nakajima Island which formed in the middle of Lake Toya about 50,000 years ago, and there are regular workshops and events such as making watches with tree nuts. You can have fun while connecting with nature.
