This shrine is located approximately 15 minutes' drive from the Tobu Isesaki Line's Ota Station in Gunma Prefecture. It is a shrine associated with Genji (Minamoto clan) and established in the Heian Period with Ukanomitama no Omikami among other gods enshrined here. There is an unusual cherry tree with a split trunk bound back together in the grounds. It is revered as an auspicious sign for marriage. Also within the grounds, is a Kanmuri Inari flowering quince which is a designated Natural Monument of Gunma Prefecture, and is a famous site for praying for childbirth. In addition, visitors to the shrine can see foxes of childbirth everywhere, alongside foxes of matchmaking.

Gunma Areas

Gunma prefecture is synonymous with onsen. Natural hot spring water sources throughout the prefecture have given rise to a series of small onsen towns, each set among luscious mountains. At Kusatsu, Ikaho, and Minakami, traditional indoor and outdoor bathing experiences are served hand in hand with irresistible onsen-themed food, including steam-cooked eggs and custard pudding.
