This art museum is located in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It displays various pieces such as modern Japanese paintings, Meissen porcelain, and Satsuma-yaki (Satsuma ware) from the Bakumatsu to Meiji periods (1853–1912). In addition, it holds not only permanent exhibits but also regularly has exhibitions. There is also a shop that sells original goods inside the museum. It is open from March to December every year and is closed during the winter.

ウッドワンといえば麗子像

岸田劉生麗子像がウッドワン美術館の顔、と思っていましたが、ガラスなど、知らない世界がどっさり。宮島パワートライアスロンの際に尋ねましたが、次はもっとじっくりと来てみたいと思いました。

宮島・厳島観光の際に時間に少し余裕が出たので、観光案内所の方が勧めてくれていたこちらの美術館へ行ってみる事にしました。さすがに観光地から少し離れていて落ち着いて鑑賞する事が出来ました。特に食器や陶器ガラスなど素晴らしいものでした。

以前この美術館所有の展示を春秋と２回見させてもらった。今回は笠間日動美術館から７０点きて展示しているので、旅行の途中立ち寄った。お客さんはいつも少ないのでゆっくりと落ち着いて見られた。初めての方は新館もセットでチケットを買えば割引で新館も見学できる。新館はマイセンとガレとかの硝子作品と薩摩焼が展示されている。食事をしたければとなりのホテルにレストランがあるし、カフェは美術館に併設している。すごい...
