Maintaining the cultural importance of SHIN-PUH-KAN whilst creating beauty
Ace Hotel Kyoto
SHIN-PUH-KAN facing Karasuma Road (Karasuma-Dori), Kyoto’s main flow of commerce and tourism, dates back to the Taisho era (completed in 1926) and has played a large part in the city of Kyoto we see today, being the city’s first designated and registered cultural property.
Kengo Kuma, who has worked on buildings such Tokyo’s Nezu Museum and Kabukiza, will transform SHIN-PUH-KAN’s first floor into a shopping complex, and the second and third floors will be Ace Hotel’s guest rooms; re-development will be completed in total harmony with the original building and Kyoto’s cityscape.Ace Hotel Kyoto
