How to Get to Makuhari 2019

Makuhari Messe is host to some of the biggest events in Japan. Tokyo Game Show, Tokyo Comicon and Tokyo Motor Show are just some of the crazy events that are held in this behemoth convention center.

Getting there can also get a little crazy if there’s multiple events happening on the same day. Events like the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics 2020 might also make things convoluted. So here's a guide to help you easily find your way to Makuhari Messe.

Getting There from the Closest Train Station : Kaihimmakuhari Station

Makuhari Messe is a quick 5-minute walk from JR Keiyō Line, Kaihimmakuhari Station. The station itself is only about a 30 minute train ride from Tokyo Station, and it’s around 12 minutes from Soga Station.

Once you arrive at Kaihimmakuhari Station, there’s only one ticket gate area, so that part’s easy. Once you pass the ticket gates, take the South Exit, which is on the left. There are signs for Makuhari Messe in English, so be on the lookout for them overhead.

Head through the Makuhari New City walkway:
After you leave the station, head straight through the covered walkway welcoming you to Makuhari New City. There will also be taxis to the right, so if you’re in a hurry or have your hands full, that’s also an option.

Go Right at the PLENA building:
From the walkway, you’ll run into a small shopping mall, called PLENA Makuhari.

Follow the building along to the right, and you’ll see a white sign with Makuhari Messe marked on it (take a note of the colorful logo). Take a left here to face the pedestrian bridge.

Once you’re up the stairs, you should be able to see Makuhari Messe (a bit to the right). From here, follow the signs to your particular event space. They’re marked pretty well.

If You’re Going to International Exhibition Hall 9-11:
When you’re up the bridge, follow the signs and arrows for International Exhibition Hall 9-11 (picture below). It’s connected to the International Exhibition Hall 1-8 Makuhari Event Hall and International Conference Hall, so if you enter the wrong place, you can still get to where you’re supposed to be.
