Nagasaki Pref. Tsushimashi Toyotamamachini Wanomiya 55
This shrine is located in Nii, Toyotama-cho, Tsushima City. It is dedicated to Hikohohodemi no Mikoto and the ocean goddess Toyotamahime no Mikoto. In front of the main shrine, there are five torii gates including in the sea, making it a mysterious shrine with Dragon King's Palace legends from long ago.

Yo you heard about the tori? These thing look like a gate, tou can walk through some of them but some is in the water. The Tsushima peoples believe that when you go through the gate tou go to the...

    Nagasaki Tsushima-shi Minecho Kisaka 247
"A Shinto shrine located in Kisaka Mine-cho, Tsushima City. The shrine is also known as the Tsushima Ichinomiya, ""Ichinomiya"" being a term used to describe the most important shrine in a region. The shrine was originally titled the Hachiman Hongu (meaning ""main Hachiman shrine"") because it enshrined eight flags which belonged to Empress Jingu; the name was later changed to its current title in the Meiji period. The shrine's sacred grove is also Kisaka Wild Bird Forest, a section of virgin forest which has been designated a Natural Monument by the prefecture and which has been outfitted with walking paths."

During the festival held every November 12, various rituals are performed, such as a warrior procession led by samurai marching to the beach.

    Nagasaki Iki Ashibecho Hakozakihonmurafure 1678-1
"This Shinto shrine stands at the top of Mt. Otake a 15-minute drive from Ashibe Port. The site is so sacred, the entire mountain was made off limits as an object of worship in the Meiji period. Said to be the place where Amenohitotsubashira and Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto descended to Earth, the shrine is also dedicated to Sarutahiko-no-Mikoto and over 200 stone monkey statues affiliated with the god stand on the grounds. A sacred stone behind the front shrine is a mystical ""power spot"" which causes compasses to go wild. If you make a special request to the shrine's priest, you can learn about the history of the shrine and possibly receive a guided tour of areas normally off limits to visitors."

Nagasaki Areas

around-area-map

This hidden corner of the country is rural Japan at its best, where underground activity is to thank for active volcanoes and bubbling natural hot springs along the Shimabara Peninsula as well as the crystal clear waters of the Goto Islands off the west coast. Less well known than Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Nagasaki commemorates its own past at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which sits alongside the charming Meganebashi stone bridge and a mix of religious buildings with beautiful architecture, such as the Zen Buddhist Sofukuji Temple, the Confucian Shrine, and the Oura Christian Church.
