This restaurant specializing in gyoza (pot stickers) is located inside the Hirome Market of “yatai” (food stand) village, food court in Obiya-machi 2-Chome, Kochi City. It is known as the originator of Yatai Gyoza, a Kochi delicacy. These pot stickers feature a thin wrapper stuffed with a filling made with plenty of vegetables including garlic chives and ginger from Kochi Prefecture and fried until golden. In addition to a la carte pot stickers, the restaurant also offers sets that pair their pot stickers with draft beer or sour cocktails.

I was looking for a small snack, not a big lunch. This place had gyoza plus a draft beer for 850-yen. What a deal. The gyoza was the best I’ve tasted in a long while. You place your order, pay...

Kochi Areas

around-area-map

The largest of Shikoku’s prefectures, Kochi is endowed with some of the island’s most exceptional sand beaches lining the Pacific Ocean, which narrows into the Shimanto-gawa, a huge river that stretches 196 kilometers into the prefecture, passing verdant mountains and hosting countless riverside activities. Whether you’re a pilgrim or not, Kochi’s 16 Buddhist temples that make up one leg of the Shikoku Pilgrimage are worth a visit, particularly Chikurin-ji for its five-tier pagoda.
