- Tottori Sand Dunes run along the Sea of Japan coast in Tottori City. They are the largest dunes in Japan and extend 16 kilometers from east to west and 2.4 kilometers from north to south. The landscape formed by the granite sand which is carried from the Chugoku Mountains due to the swift current of the Sendai River and the sea breeze from the Sea of Japan is beautiful. From the viewpoint of these dunes having characteristic topography, there are places with large depressions which are called “suri-bachi” because their shapes resemble that of an earthenware mortar, and it is said that large ones can be as much as 40 meters deep. It is also fun to ride a sightseeing camel through the sand dunes or glide over the sand on a sand board. The sand dunes were designated as a Natural Monument of Japan in 1955, and were selected as one of Japan’s top 100 geological features in 2007.

- Hakuto Beach
- Travel / Tourism
- Tottori Pref. Tottorishi Hakuto
- "The Hakuto Beach is an area of coastline located at the western end of the Tottori Sand Dunes. It is famous as the setting for the legend of the White Hare of Inaba, which is recorded in the Kojiki (""Record of Ancient Matters""). Special features include the view of the Oki Islands, from which the White Hare crossed over to the mainland by getting Wanizame (sea-monsters or sharks) to line up in a row so that he could jump from one to another, and the beautiful scenery created by the eroded rocks that resemble stepping-stones. Visitors can enjoy strolling along the coast and soaking up the unique atmosphere that its mythological connections have imbued it with, and in the summer they can enjoy sea-bathing and surfing. Near the beach is an area which is the southernmost point in Japan where Rosa rugose (Sweetbriar), a National Treasure Protected Species, grows in the wild; in early summer, visitors can see the Sweetbriar in bloom. Due to its associations with the legend of the White Hare of Inaba, Japan's earliest love story, the Hakuto Beach has been designated a Lover's Sanctuary Project site."

- This is the most famous waterfall in Tottori Prefecture, having a height of 40 meters, and has been selected as one of the One hundred Japanese falls. The scale of the water fall is magnificent and the scene of the water gushing down is spectacular. It has been a location for religious training since ancient times and on the first of August, according to the old lunar calendar, “Otakimairi (Worshipping of the waterfall)” was held. On the first Saturday of June, the “Takibiraki Matsuri” festival is held and local traditional entertainment such as the umbrella dance is showcased.

- Ashizu Valley
- Travel / Tourism
- Tottori Yazu-gun Chizucho Ashizu
- A valley in Hyonosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Quasi-National Park. Located in Chizu Town, at the prefectural border with Okayama Prefecture, you can enjoy activities like forest therapy, hiking, camping, and fishing for yamame trout in the old growth forest of the valley. Formed by the Kitamata River (a tributary of the Sendai River), the diverse landscape has steep cliffs running down both sides of the valley. Lots of boulders have fallen from the cliffs and accumulated on the riverbed. The contrast of colorful autumn leaves with the natural cedar evergreens is a sight to see. 21-meter high Mitaki Falls is shrouded in forest and has been revered as a god of rain since ancient times.
