"This museum is next to the Ayaragigo ruins. It displays about 500 pieces from the Yayoi and Kofun periods excavated from below Shimonoseki Castle. They have recreated life-size dioramas of ""storage pits"" and display materials connected to excavation and archaeology in the Regional Education Room. They also run tours and excursions around the Ayaragigo ruins. The grounds outside are built as a ruin park, with restored dugout shelters and kofun burial mounds for viewing."

前日からの萩観光を終え、日本海側を下関経由で北九州空港にレンタカーで戻る途中で見学しました。石器や土器が陳列されているだけの資料館が多い分野ですが、ここは工夫した明るい展示で楽しめました。

綾羅木郷台遺跡に作られた博物館、体験型の展示もあり小さなお子さんでも飽きずに楽しめます屋外には復元住居や古墳がありピクニックにも好適です
考古学好きにはたまらない施設

弥生時代から古墳時代を中心とした下関市域の出土品約500点を展示しています。古代に関するパソコンクイズや土器のジクソーパズルなどもあります。屋外には、古墳や竪穴式住居の復元があり、考古学好きにはたまらない施設だと思いました。
