This is an experience in Azumino, Shinshu, a place rich in nature with sparkling water, light, wind, and sky. Concentrating on making chopsticks will refresh your mind and body! It is an experience that will satisfy all five senses with Azumino‘s delicious air, water, and light. Unlike the standard chopstick making experience where you just move a plane around on a shaft, you can make thin chopsticks using a plane stand designed by the craftsman Kawaguchi! You can make thick chopsticks, square chopsticks, and even octagonal chopsticks if you try hard! This is the only place in Japan where you can make your own easy-to-use chopsticks. Children in the third grade of elementary school can try it out! (For elementary school students, we recommend cypress wood; some people may not be able to carve it at all due to the hardness of mountain cherry wood.) Using a planer from a square piece of wood may seem difficult, but...our craftsmen will carefully teach you how to use the planer. . 12 years of chopstick making experience. I have experienced it with over 10,000 people so far, so everyone is creating it. Among the 10,000 people, there are also famous entertainers and announcers (*^-^*) ~ Procedure of the day ~ ① ‘Decide the wood and length.‘ Decide the material of the chopsticks and the length of the chopsticks. ② “Explanation of the process ~ It all starts with someone teaching me how to use a plane~” Planes vary depending on the person who uses them! How much it takes to cut depends on your individual stance. Therefore, the time for the chopstick making experience will vary depending on each customer‘s time! ③Process 1. Our craftsmen will apply a water-repellent ceramic coating and send it to you approximately one month after it dries. Water-repellent ceramic paint is a naturally derived paint, so it is gentle on the body and prevents bacteria without damaging the texture of the wood. *Domestic genuine lacquer painting is available as an option. (1,100 yen to be paid on-site) When you apply lacquer, it forms a coating that prevents the wood from absorbing water, protecting the chopsticks from mold and bacteria. Lacquer is made from wood sap and has been used since the Jomon period, so it is safe for your body. There are very few shops that paint Japanese lacquer.
