遠野市立博物館

此為建於1980年日本首座民族民俗專門博物館。館內介紹了遠野地區民眾的日常生活，以及該地的自然、歷史和文化。館方利用資料及照片等素材，以淺顯易懂的方式呈現出孕育自盆地地形的遠野生活。在多螢幕劇場裡可觀賞以《遠野物語》和民間故事為題材的影片，以及動畫《水木茂之遠野物語》等作品。
