  One of the best ways to start the day is with a hearty breakfast, or at least a quick coffee at the nearby Garden House Kamakura. This spacious café offers a mix of Japanese and western influenced cuisine served in a stylishly laid back setting.   One of the area’s more overlooked shrines, Kuzuharaoka Shrine is a small foliage covered spiritual hub that’s said to be a power spot frequented by ward off evil and potentially find some romantic luck. Nearby you’ll find a small store where you can pick up a small ceramic to smash (in the designated area) as a way to ward off spirits.

  Also known as the ‘Money Washing Shrine’ Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine is a popular site for both locals and visitors hoping to gain a little extra financial luck. Minamoto Yoritomo, the founder of the Kamakura government built this site after a God appeared in his dream. It’s said that if you wash your money in the shrine’s spring water here it will double.
