岛根县虽人口稀少，占地面积较小，却拥有着丰富的自然景观，并流传下许多神话传说。日本最古老的神道教神社的出云大社便坐落岛根县的中心。在出云大社可以追溯过去几个世纪的历史，感受日本独特的人文气息。另外，岛根县境内还有隐歧群岛的180座无人岛屿。在境港市北部乘坐40分钟的轮渡即可抵达隐歧群岛。在这里，与世隔绝的岛屿有如世外桃源般令人神往。
