Washou Ichiba Market
Washou Ichiba Market was built as a people’s kitchen in 1954 and is one of the most historic indoor markets in Kushiro. The name came from the lively calls of “Wasshoi, Wasshoi” as well as the expression “Trade with Harmony”. There are about 60 shops in the market which sell fresh fish, fruit, meat, snacks, tea and flowers. Also, there are sushi restaurants and cafes. Choosing your favorite seafood to make your own original seafood bowl (“Katte-don”) is also popular.
