Taikou Mochi

This long-established sweets shop has been in operation for 450 years since the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1573-1600). Its specialty is their namesake taikou mochi. They are made by wrapping elegant anko bean paste in mochi rice cake dough, and carefully grilling both sides. Taikou Hideyoshi, who occasionally visited Ise Jingu Shrine and made large donations, is said to have eaten this taikou mochi when in Ise, and was given this name because he wrote Bimi nari (It is delicious) when describing it. At the eat-in space inside the shop, you can enjoy taikou mochi right there together with tea or zenzai (red bean soup).

参拝後に行きました。試食にお餅を1ついただき、中はこしあん、平べったい白いおもちです。食べやすいサイズです。賞味期限は3日、食べきれなければ冷凍してもよいそう。脱気したものもあり、そちらは1週間程度いけるそうです。お土産に購入しました。
出世祈願餅。

バスターミナルのすぐそばで、今日はパールシャトルに乗るための時間調整で15分ほど、太閤出世餅のお店に入りました定番のお餅とほうじ茶を頂いて時間を友だちと過ごしました
