Kanazawa Nishichaya Museum

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
A history museum located in No-machi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture situated on the former site of the Yoshiyonero tea house; the museum building recreates what the tea house once looked like in its heyday. The Yoshiyonero famously served as the setting of the Taisho period novel “Chijo” and an exhibit presenting materials related to its author, Seijiro Shimada, can be found on the first floor. The second floor is a tatami room with lovely rouge walls; the room is decorated with various articles appropriate to the tea house neighborhood in which the museum is situated, including gold leafed and lacquered ornaments, sensu folding fans, a shamisen, and taiko drum. Volunteer sightseeing guides who will provide a walking tour of the nearby area are also regularly stationed at the museum.
