Hozu Gorge
A gorge following the Hozu River from Kameoka City to the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama, Kyoto City designated the Kyoto Prefectural Hozukyo Nature Park. The gorge is known for its picturesque scenery as seen from a sightseeing trolley as well as sightseeing boats which travel down the river. In most years, the area's Japanese maples start turning color around mid-November, and during this time the area bustles with visitors. Riders on the popular Hozu-gawa River Boat Ride, which leaves from Kameoka and travels 16 kilometers downstream through Hozu Gorge over a two hour period, can enjoy the fantastic scenery of the area from the river. The views are also fantastic from the sightseeing trolley, which travels between Saga and Kameoka.
