Ise Jingu Shinen

Garden
Cross Ujibashi Bridge at the entrance to Ise Jingu Shrine's Naiku (inner sanctum) and you'll find this large Japanese garden with verdant pine trees and beautifully cut grass that borders white gravel walkways spreading along the Isuzu River. In the spring and fall bugaku court dance and music takes place on their specially constructed stage during the Kagura Festival. At that time, the Jingu Tea Room donated by Mr. Konosuke Matsushita which is usually off limits is opened to the public. They also hold the Jingu Hono Grand Sumo Match in the spring. The garden's known for its colorful autumn leaves and cherry blossom viewing in spring.
