Tojo-tei House/Tojo Museum of History

This museum is just a 10-mintue walk from the Matsudo Station on the Shin Keisei Line or the JR Line. The Tojo-tei House was built as the villa of Tokugawa Akitake, the younger brother of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the last shogun of the shogunate government, and is designated as a National Cultural Property. Almost all of the residences of the Tokugawa clan from the Meiji period still exist so that one can get a glimpse into the environment in which these former lords lived. On display at the adjoining Tojo Museum of History are primarily the treasures of Tokugawa Akitake, but also displayed are items from the Matsudo Tokugawa family as well as from the Tokugawa Yoshinobu family.

戸定が丘歴史公園内にある小さな博物館です。明治時代に設立された松戸徳川家、及び徳川慶喜家縁の品々が展示されており、江戸幕府が閉じられた後の明治期の徳川家の歴史を知る上で貴重な博物館と言えます。しかし、敷地自体が小さく展示数もそれ程多くないため、全てを観て回るだけであれば20分程度で済みます。この博物館そのものの入館料も安めに設定されていますが、戸定邸との共通入館券を購入すると、両方の施設を利用す...

JR松戸駅から徒歩約10分の緑豊かなところに静かに佇んでいます。歴史館と戸定邸に分かれ歴史館は水戸藩主徳川昭武の明治維新の混乱の中での殿様の生活が偲ばれる写真など多数陳列されています。昭武も慶喜も写真が好きで沢山の写真が並べられ当時のことが良く分ります。戸定邸からは松戸の街並みから富士山が望まれます。現在はタワーマンションのために若干富士山が見づらくなっているのは残念ですね。慶喜の弟ということで将...

徳川昭武と兄の徳川慶喜に関する資料を展示している施設です。幕末から明治にかけての写真、文書、書籍や遺品などが展示されていて、当時の活動や生活の様子をうかがい知ることができます。庭園も美しく散策も楽しめます。
