Catholic Hirosaki Church

Located around five minutes’ walk to the east of Hirosaki Park, Catholic Hirosaki Church was built in 1910. It was constructed in the Romanesque style, with a spire, and with prominent pillars at the left and right corners of the front face. The oak-wood altar that faces the door at the far end of the interior was a gift from the Church of St. Thomas in Amsterdam; the altar was made in 1866, and won an award for its design at an exhibition held in Antwerp, Belgium.

ミサのない時は、いつでも教会内に入り、見学やお祈りが出来ます。弘前公園の近くにあるので、行きやすいですし、外見を見るだけでも、行く価値はあります。
ステンドグラスが美しい

堀江佐吉の弟が建てたロマネスク様式の木造建築です。ゴシック様式の祭壇はオランダから譲られ、ステンドグラスはカナダから贈られたそうです。岩木山やリンゴなども描かれており大変美しいです。
弘前市の趣のある建物

弘前の街歩きで、弘前城を含めて観光する際にお勧めします。私は駅から歩いていきましたが、ＪＲ弘前駅から、弘南バス土手町循環100円バスで文化センター前下車でもいけます。住宅地の中に現れます。
