Located approximately a 15-minute walk from Hanshin Ashiya Station, this art museum is also very close to the Midori-cho (Bijutsu-hakubutsukan-mae) bus stop, and mainly exhibits works from contemporary artists with links to Ashiya. In addition, it functions as a museum, collecting and investigating documents that pertain to the history of Ashiya. It also holds events such as lectures and workshops by curators. In addition, there are cafes and museum shops that sell catalogs and postcards.

ゆったりと過ごせる穴場の美術館

阪神芦屋駅から徒歩１５分で着く、谷崎潤一郎、図書館と並ぶ芦屋市の文化ゾーンにあります。エントランスホールの大きな吹き抜け空間や２階のホワイエの随所に椅子が配置されていてゆったりと展示を楽しみながら時間を過ごせます。コルビジェのLCシリーズの椅子（本物）にはこだわりが見えますし、美術館の前庭にある残念石を使った彫刻作品もユニークです。展示で刺激をもらったり、ただのんびりと過ごしたり、色々な楽...
リニューアルオープン後に行ってみました。

2024年4月にリニューアルオープンしているので、とても綺麗でした。外観の印象と内観の様子が良い意味で違っていて、開放的なホールがとても印象的でした。ちょうど訪問した2024年4月には、芦屋市で結成された美術団体”具体”をとりあげた展覧会が行われていて、見応えがありました。博物館としての展示室もあって、前庭やカフェなどゆったりと過ごすことが出来ました。

無料開放の日に訪れました。マイナーなのか、無料なのに閑散としていました。施設自体がかなり古いようで、カーペットなどめくれてしまっている部分もありましあた。のんびり鑑賞できるので、いいと思います。
