A long-standing ice cream shop located along the Onomichi Channel in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture which was established in 1939. In addition to the ice cream sales counter, the shop also has an old-fashioned eat-in space called the Monaka Room. The shop’s signature item is the egg ice cream, the recipe for which was created around 1940s and modeled after a French-style ice cream. People love its smooth creaminess. The shop’s monaka wafer ice cream sandwiches and ice cream zenzai sweet red bean soup are also popular. This famous shop has been featured in many magazines and on numerous television shows.

尾道のにあるアイスクリーム屋さん、からさわです。海沿いの道にあります。休日の夕方、並ばずすぐに購入出来ました。ガイドブックに載っていた名物アイスモナカを購入。優しい甘さのアイスクリーム、凄く好みです。モナカはぱっりと軽くアイスクリームと凄く良く合います。

以前から尾道に行くと必ず寄っていたので久しぶりのアイスモナカ楽しみに入店したのですが、2人のおばさん店員の態度にがっかり。マスクも消毒もしてるのにも関わらず早く出ていって欲しそうなオーラを出されました。笑顔どころか睨まれる感じ。(店内は飲食禁止なので商品を受け取ったらすぐに出るので店内にとどまっていた訳ではありません)アイスモナカは相変わらず美味しかったので残念です。尾道もしばらく行かな...
モナカの皮

本店の持ち帰りメニューに「モナカの皮５個分」とあるが、これがこの店の特徴をよく示している。皮がパリパリで、とにかく食感がいいのだ。その皮に包まれているのが、この店特製の「たまごあいす」。本店に行くと、たまごあいすと皮に包まれた「アイスモナカ」のほか、ぜんざいや抹茶などの〝変化球〟も楽しめる。
