Located in the Hokudan Earthquake Memorial Park, this facility provides access to the Nojima Fault that caused the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake on January 17, 1995. A portion of the fault appeared at the surface as a result of the quake, and it has been designated a Natural Monument. Visitors gain an understanding of the effects of the disaster, including the shifted topography, through photographs, panel displays, and guided tours. There are realistic reproductions of the area after the earthquake, and on every Tuesday narrators tell the story of what happened at that time. An earthquake experience section lets visitors feel the same level of shaking that occurred during the disaster.

阪神淡路大震災が発生した当時の断層、建築物等が当時のままの状態で保存されています。地震が多い国に生まれた者として、危機意識はなるべく持っておきたいと感じさせてくれます。
大震災の貴重な保存館

規模の大きい施設です。実際に起こった断層をいろんな角度から展示している。横にずれたあぜ道と庭のタイル及び隆起した断層の断面の展示は、迫力がありました。その他、壁がひび割れた家屋の実物が展示されていたり、震度７の地震を体験できるコーナーもあり、大地震のすごさを実感できる、貴重な保存館で、必見の場所です。

我々人間はこの自然の驚異に対し何と無力なことか。ここは阪神淡路大震災で出来た逆断層を保存展示している。日本は地震国である。この経験が生かされずに東北大震災の被害をを引き起こしてしまった。我々は学ぼう、原発など要らないと。
