Nogata Saijikan

Historical Monument
A lifelong learning facility in Shinmachi, Nogata City. It's located in a house built during the late Meiji period by Hori Santaro, one of Chikuho's Five Greatest Coal Barons. There are Japanese-style rooms and wood floored rooms where classes including tea ceremonies, ikebana flower arranging, origami, shogi (Japanese chess), koto (Japanese harp) classes, and more are held. The storehouse is a free to use exhibition space.

    直方駅から徒歩10分。炭鉱王と呼ばれた堀三太郎氏の住宅。1898年の築。直方市に寄贈後は公民館となっていたが、現在は貸室として利用されているようである。建物の見学入館は無料であるが、見所と言えるものはあまりない。
