Japanese Confectionery
Henbamochi Oharai Town Branch, located in Oharai Town near to Ise-jingu Shrine Naiku in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, is a Japanese sweet shop, and this well-established shop opened its main store in 1775. Henbamochi, which is mochi (rice cake) made from rice flour filled with smooth sweet bean paste and browned on both sides, is famous. It has a light texture with a roasted aroma and mild sweetness, and is popular as a local sweet to go with tea as well as a tourist souvenir. In the shop, there is a range of Sawamochi in which sweet paste is sandwiched in noshimochi (flat rice cake) and kombu seaweed cooked in soy sauce. It offers a takeaway service as well as an eating in at a small Japanese style seating area.
